What actually is true humility?

It is being free from pride and arrogance. Proud people look at their life with telescope and others life with a microscope. But with the humble people it is the other way around.

Humble people possess the following characteristics.

Always feel they need to grow.
Has a compassionate and forgiving heart.
They are always in the outlook for best in others.
Realize God is the supreme controller of the universe.
Also, realizes that their life is in God’s control.
Thinks that they don’t deserve the opportunities that God gives.

Humbleness in one of the important virtue human beings should possess. “True Humility and the fear of the Lord go hand in hand”.

Proverbs 22 : 4 says,

Humility is the fear of the LORD; its wages are riches, honor and life.

God uses humble people. He doesn’t like the proud, but he loves the humble(James 4:6).

As the children of God we ought to clothe ourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. When we are humble we would be able to bear one another’s mistakes.

Benefits of being humble

God himself guides the humble people.
God teaches them his way.
He guides them on what is right.
He lifts them up.
He gives honor.
He crowns them with victory.
He gives wisdom to the humble.
God’s favor is with the humble.
Being loved by God himself.

How to possess this great virtue?

In John 3: 30, John the baptist says, He(Jesus) must become greater and greater . I must become lesser and lesser. By realizing our unworthiness and humbling ourselves under the mighty hands of God, we would be able to possess this great virtue.
