Anger is one of the basic emotions that human beings express. Anger is a strong feeling of annoyance, being provoked and filled with displeasure and hostility. Bible doesn’t tell that we can’t express anger at all. So what does bible say about getting angry?
Ephesians 4 : 26 – 31 says,
If you’re angry don’t sin by nursing your grudge. For when you are angry, you give a mighty foothold to the devil. Don’t cause the holy spirit sorrow by the way you live. Stop being mean, bad – tempered and Angry.
Let Quarrelling, harsh words and dislike of others have no place in your lives. Instead be kind to each other, tender hearted, forgiving one another, just as God has forgiven you because you belong to Christ.
Anger in godly sense is good says the bible. First and the foremost, we should be angry at our own sins, which should lead us to take drastic steps needed to deal with it. Anger is ia a strong emotion. When you are emotional, you’re not very rational. A man who can’t control his emotions is like a person with a broken- wall says the bible.

There are two types of anger. Righteous anger and Unrighteous anger.
  • Righteous Anger – Godly anger brings repentance. As mentioned earlier, you should be angry at your own sins. When you are angry at your sins, you try to change yourselves by going to the presence of God. He refines your character.
  • Unrighteous Anger – This type of anger stems from utter inherent selfishness. This type of anger is against some person. When you are angry continually bitterness or desire of vengeance can grow. Unrighteous anger throws tantrums. It is like a smoldering volcano which is ready to erupt at any point of time.
It would be embarrassing if you analyze your own anger. You will agree that most of it is du to simple selfishness. The opposite character of anger is Love. Love is patient and not provoked easily.
James 1 : 19 – 20 says,
But everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to get angry; for the anger of man does not achieve the righteousness of God.

You’re just a bomb. Oh look at the devastation you’ll create when you explode just like that. Control your anger says the bible often. If controlling anger id difficult or impossible God wouldn’t say to control it. Attack the problem and not the person. You should help to restore the problem. Remember your own shortcomings. Go with humility. If you don’t control your anger in biblical manner, you’ll give the devil an opportunity in your life. Unrighteous anger opens door for the devil to come in and wreak havoc.
Psalms 2 : 5 say’s, God in his anger speaks. How are you responding when you are angry. Do you get into physical fights? Are foul words gushing like water from your mouth when you are angry? Bible as well says, Don’t use bad language ( Ephesians 4 : 29) Say only what is good and helpful. Let us ponder upon this. Next time you get angry distract yourself towards God. Find comfort from his presence. God bless you.
